Rian Harris - Yoga Instructor
I had my first studio practice in 2006, which was bikram yoga. I tried it on for a few weeks, and it was cool, but it didn’t quite fit what I was looking for.
I took teacher training in the summer of 2010. The experience was amazing. I gained a deeper insight into myself and my practice, and I now get to share more of myself not only as a student, but also as a teacher. I fell in love with this practice because it always provides an opportunity to experience the biggest and brightest parts of myself.
I teach kids yoga, and give group and private yoga instruction as well. I instruct classes that create space for you to experience your inner teacher, for you to cultivate a healthy and mindful practice, and for you to be content with where you are on your path.
When I’m not on practicing on my mat, I’m channeling yoga into other areas of my life. I’m creating living food, and guiding others through the philosophy and art of organic living food preparation.
Yoga is such an integral part of the healthy lifestyle that I have embraced. Yoga has infused me with a greater sense of alignment, wellness, mindfulness, and gratitude.
My practice is about sharing myself fully, authentically, and courageously through yoga.
Adam Whiting - Yoga Instructor
Adam Whiting is a full-time traveling yoga teacher based in Charlotte, North Carolina where he teaches packed classes and sold-out workshops in studios throughout the city and beyond.
Adam credits his 8-year personal yoga and meditation practice with alleviating the debilitating symptoms of his post-9/11 PTSD and anxiety disorder. His hope is to share this transformational practice with as many students as possible.
As a voracious student of yogic theory and practice, Adam has studied and practiced with Rod Stryker, Pandit Rajmani Tigunait, Tiffany Cruikshank, Dice Iida-Klein, Briohny Smyth and Baron Baptiste. The resulting culmination of his diverse yoga study is a teaching style that artfully blends anatomical precision with powerful, energetic emotion and yogic tradition.
In 2013, Adam traveled to India with Yogarupa Rod Stryker to witness and participate in the world’s largest religious pilgrimage, the Kumbha Mela. While there, he was initiated into Styker’s Para Yoga lineage and is honored to call Yogarupa his teacher.
Adam loves the playfulness and creative freedom found in crafting an intelligently sequenced vinyasa flow class. When he’s not leading a meditation, you can find him cracking jokes and calling poses to the soundtrack of an upbeat, energetic playlist in his challenging but empowering vinyasa flow classes.
Adam is also partial to breaking down and inverting the flow with a focus on advanced arm balances and inversions. Watch a video of Arm Balances and Inversions with Adam Whiting to see why he is so passionate about practicing and teaching these poses.
Off the mat, Adam teaches music and works with Playing for Others, a non-profit organization that empowers teens through the arts. He is also an ambassador at lululemon Southpark and the founder of Big Horizon Yoga where he curates creative outdoor yoga experiences to raise money for charitable causes.
In addition to yoga, Adam enjoys running, cycling, swimming, and walking his very large dog Oliver, and his not-so-large dog Diesel.
Jenny Thornton - Yoga Instructor
Jenny’s yogic journey started in 2002, when she took a job working the desk at a Bikram yoga studio. In the months that followed, the teachings of and commitment to yoga crept into every aspect of her life as she knew it.
In October 2003, she took part in Jimmy Barkan’s inaugural Hot Yoga teacher training in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. For the first few years of her yoga ‘career’ she focused primarily on the teachings of the Bikram school, participating in and facilitating workshops through her home studio. As her understanding and passion for yoga deepened, she expanded her practice and education to include other styles and disciplines.
She’s trained with many inspirational instructors including Rolf Gates, Rod Stryker and Stephanie Keach, obtaining certifications in vinyasa and prenatal yoga as well. Jenny’s main objective for teaching yoga is to share with others, if only a few, the deeply transformational power of this path and just maybe, to help others find greater understanding along the way.
Ashley Avilez - ERYT-200, LMBT 9459, Reiki Master
I’ve been practicing yoga on and off since 2000 with a focused practice since ’07 after the birth of my first daughter. My mat is “my space” to learn more about myself, calm my mind and tap into my breath. I began my teaching journey in ’10 when I completed my 230hr training in the Universal style of yoga. I quickly learned that this was just the tip of the iceberg and love delving into the science of yoga as often as I can.
I have been very fortunate to have taken workshops with Kathryn Fish, Jim Bennitt, Seane Corn, Stephanie Keach and Blair Lewis and look forward to many more. My background in massage and energy healing helps me to address not just the physical body, but all of the layers, energetic, physical, and emotional so my classes are intentionally sequenced to help open the body, deepen awareness and cultivate breath, prepare to be challenged but most of all to have fun!
When I’m not practicing, teaching or playing mom I’m running my businesses.

Michelle Lewis - Licensed Massage Therapist, LMBT , NC License #12992
Why massage therapy as a career? Being an avid fitness enthusiast I learned the benefits of massage therapy as a useful aid in recovery from strenuous workouts. I also appreciated the added benefits of relaxation and stress relief. Recovering from a few injuries which required surgery and physical therapy, massage became a routine part of my life and influenced my decision to become a massage therapist. Massage is something I believe in and I’m passionate about. Helping a person improve their health and overall well being is very rewarding. I love what I do and I’m committed to working together in helping people find a healthy and balanced sense of well being.
Outside of my passion for massage I’m always looking for a new adventure. Scuba, skydive, kayaking, paddle boarding, Warrior Dash, Mud Run, travel and basically anything that is challenging and fun. My rescue dog Ranger and I are always at a park or on the lake enjoying the outdoors.
I’m committed to helping the fight against ALS or Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Much progress is being made in the research to win the battle against ALS but there is so cure. I’m active in supporting the Catfish Hunter Chapter, local to the Charlotte area, help the families who are battling this horrible disease.
