Focus of the Month: HIPS
Day 2 of Moga Charlotte and things are going really well! We LOVE seeing everyone at the studio and love all the positive and constructive feedback, i.e. PARKING.
Where to park:
We are located on South Blvd. to the left of ICEHOUSE. Pull into the Atherton Loft parking lot and follow the driveway that is between ICEHOUSE and the 2108 building. Parking is in the back. Call us if you get lost! 980-224-7172.
FOCUS OF THE MONTH: HIPS
Most studios have a focus of the month that is focused on a pose. At Moga, we have an anatomical focus each month.
Why is it important to stretch the hips?
1. Lower back pain: commonly caused by tightness in the powerful muscles of your legs (hamstrings, quads, glutes) which all feed into the hip region.
2. If hip flexors are left unstretched, the position of the pelvis is altered, which in turn affects the position and movement of the lower back.
3. For people in a sedentary society, daily hip flexor stretches are important to help counterbalance the prolonged hip flexion of sitting for hours.
4. If the hip is already popping, stretching prevents further injury and relieves stiffness, which makes important functions like walking up stairs easier.
